Property History
The history of Montagu Pavilion captures the changing landscape of Gibraltar over time. Originally constructed between 1929-1930, the Pavilion was a key part of Gibraltar’s social and recreational scene, reflecting the era's emphasis on leisure and community activities.
The significant reclamation of land in the following decades on the west side of Gibraltar reshaped the shoreline around the Pavilion, setting the stage for further urban development.
In 1989, Montagu Pavilion's transformation from a bathing pavilion into office space marked its adaptation to meet new economic demands. It served the community in a different capacity, aligning with Gibraltar's shifting focus on business and office spaces.
Although demolition was approved in 2002, the structure remained standing. The Pavilion continued to serve as private office space, preserving part of its historical legacy even as its surroundings evolved.
Now, under the ownership of WDF Properties Ltd since 2014, the Pavilion has remained vacant following our last tenancy, as demand for residential space has significantly outpaced that for office rentals.

Property Future
We deeply appreciate the historical significance of the Montagu Pavilion and share the collective passion of our community for preserving Gibraltar’s rich heritage.
We envision transforming the currently uninhabitable building into a vibrant and welcoming space that serves the community. Our plan includes revitalizing the Pavilion into a multi-functional area featuring a café, gym, and spa, designed to be enjoyed by both residents and visitors.
Our approach ensures that the Pavilion's historical charm is retained and celebrated, rather than erased. By preserving the original architectural elements and integrating them into our modern development, we aim to honor the Pavilion's past while adapting it for contemporary use. Our goal is to create a space that respects the building’s heritage while providing valuable amenities for future generations to enjoy.
Unlike larger developments such as the neighboring Chatham Views or the proposed Devil's Tongue site, we have thoughtfully proposed a less obstructive design.
